Microsoft’s Bringing a Netflix-Style Subscription Service to the Xbox One

Not one to miss out on the deluge of subscription-based media services that’s come in the past few years, Microsoft announced today that it’s offering a new Xbox Game Pass that will give customers access to more than 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles at launch.

The game pass debuts in late spring 2017 and will run customers $9.99 (or £7.99 for those across the pond) per month. For that price, users will be able to download games from the game pass library directly to their consoles. Included in that robust catalog are games such as: Halo 5: Guardians, NBA 2K16, Payday 2 and Soul Calibur II from developers like 2K, Capcom, Sega and Warner Bros. The titles being offered will rotate each month, and the games available through the pass can be bought at a discounted rate.

Again, there’s no set-in-stone date as of now, but the pass is being beta-tested and Microsoft will likely announce a firmer date in the coming weeks or months. Find out more here.
