Jim James is going on a solo tour. The My Morning Jacket frontman announced Monday a collection of acoustic solo dates, kicking off Nov. 2 in Los Angeles and finishing up Nov. 21 with a homecoming show in Louisville, Ky. Tickets will go on sale Friday, June 22, right here.
This tour will follow the release of James’ third solo album, Uniform Distortion, which is out June 29 via ATO Records. He’s already released two singles from the forthcoming LP: the social media-combative “Throwback” and the rootsy “Just a Fool.” Listen to those here and here, respectively.
Joining James on the November tour will be Alynda Segarra of Hurray for the Riff Raff, who will provide support on all dates. He’ll also be accompanied by his frequent touring companion David Givan on drums. Additionally, $1 from each ticket sold will benefit charities via The Waterfall Project, My Morning Jacket’s ongoing fundraising effort.
James said of the career-spanning tour:
I am looking forward to exploring all sorts of songs stripped down as they first occurred in their natural habitat—just voice and guitar. Although I have played many shows by myself, this will be my first tour of this style and I am excited to see everyone out on the open road.
