4 Football-Themed Cocktails to Drink on Game Day

Football season is officially underway, which means it’s time to start planning some future game-day hangs.

While beer is typically the go-to, the right cocktail can be a touchdown for your gathering as well. My personal suggestion if you’re having people over is to come up with a cocktail you like, and then make a big pitcher before the gang arrives. That way you can enjoy that cocktail throughout the game without having to miss any of the action by making individual cocktails for everyone.

Here are a few cocktail suggestions for your next game day celebration:


Tequila Touch Down

Ingredients:
1.5 oz. Casa Noble Añejo Tequila
0.5 oz. lemon juice
0.5 oz. lime juice
0.25 oz. green chartreuse
0.5 oz. simple syrup
?Lemon peel

Directions: Place all ingredients, except lemon peel, in glass; add ice and swizzle. Squeeze lemon peel; rub around rim and drop into glass.


Tailgate Tea

Ingredients:
1½ parts SVEDKA Strawberry Lemonade
1 part iced tea
½ part simple syrup
½ part fresh lemon juice
Splash Corona Extra 

Directions: Pour all ingredients into a pilsner glass over fresh ice and stir briefly. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a strawberry.


Boozy Blitz

Ingredients:
1 oz. Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc
1 oz. pisco
1 ½ oz. unfiltered apple juice
¾ oz. Ginger Elixir (See instructions)
½ oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
3 dashes angostura bitters
Thinly sliced apple wedges or lemon discs for garnish

Ginger Elixir
2 cups chopped ginger with skin, 1 inch dice
1 cup water
1 cup sugar

Directions: Add all ingredients except garnish to a chilled Collins glass. Fill halfway with crushed or shaved ice and stir until well incorporated. Top with more ice, to cone over top; garnish with apple or lemon, and serve with a straw. 

Ginger Elixir: Add all ingredients to a blender and pulse until well combined. Strain, discard solids. Chill.


Hail Mary

Ingredients:
2 parts SVEDKA Cucumber Lime
4 parts Voluptuous Mix*

Ingredients for the Voluptuous Mix
3 cups tomato/vegetable juice
3 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice (about 4 limes)
1½ ounces freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 1-2 lemons)
½ tsp. prepared horseradish
2 tsp. hot sauce
4 tbsp. Half-Sour Pickle Brine
1 cup chopped peeled cucumber (run through food processor)
4 tsp. coarsely ground pepper
2 tbsp. kosher salt

Directions: Build in a highball glass rimmed with Voluptuous Salt*. Dump (roll) to mixing tin, and back. Garnish with cooked peeled shrimp, 2 lime slices, a cucumber wedge and a sprig of cilantro.

For the Voluptuous Salt
¼ part cayenne pepper
1 part ground pepper
1 part sea salt
