3 Amazing Whisky Cocktails for National Scotch Day
Today is National Scotch Day. While most often thought to be something to sip on neat or on the rocks, scotch, just like other types of whisky, can also be a great addition to a number of different cocktails.
Whether you’re just getting into the spirit, or you’re an old fan, here are a few delicious cocktails worth checking out to celebrate the big day:
Shackleton Highball
Ingredients
1.5 oz. Shackleton
4 oz. bottled soda
Fresh lemon zest
Directions: Fill highball glass with cubed ice, stir with barspoon for 10 seconds until
glass starts to frost. Drain out excess water and add Shackleton. Stir for 10 seconds and add more cubed ice if needed. Top with soda and softly stir for 5 secs. Garnish with lemon oils from zest.
La Dame de Coeur
Ingredients
2 oz. Dalmore 12yr scotch
1 oz. Montanaro Rosso vermouth
.75 oz. Cappelletti
4 dashes orange bitters
2 dashes angostura bitters
Rinse Laphroaig 10yr scotch
Directions: Rinse glass with Laphroaig. Mix all remaining ingredients in a glass beaker and stir. Strain. Spritz with orange peel zest and discard. 1 spray of Laphroaig on top.
The Dead Ringer
Ingredients
1.5 oz. Jura 10
Barspoon absinthe
.25 oz. Grand Mariner
.25 oz. Amontillado sherry
.5 oz. Honey syrup
.75 oz. Lemon
Directions: Shake and fine strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with an orange peel.
