Batman Defeats Superman in Footage for Canceled Justice League Game

Gamers should not have too much to complain about when it comes to fighting games in the DC universe. There was the 2013 release of Injustice: Gods Among Us which nicely synced the Mortal Kombat formula with the expansive DC comic characters. Still, players cannot help wondering about what could have been.

This week, PtoPOnline leaked test footage for the scrapped Justice League combat game. The game, developed by Double Helix, was set to be released sometime before a planned Justice League movie but was later left altogether. The film was to be directed by George Miller and star Armie Hammer as Batman. When the project fell through, the entire game went with it. Double Helix has since gone on to develop Killer Instinct

The footage shows Batman going head-to-head with Superman. From the looks of the video, there were still a few kinks left to work out. Earlier this year, there was an announcement made about how Batman would fare against Superman in next year’s Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. According to choreographer Guillermo Crispo, the next Batman will rely heavily on expert martial arts skills to go one-on-one with Superman. With the way that Batman handles Superman in the game, there is no doubt that the Dark Knight has got some spirit in him. Still, one must doubt how much of a contender he really is compared to Clark Kent. Maybe there’s some Kryptonite hidden in his bat suit somewhere?

Can Batman really take on Superman? Check out the footage to see for yourself.
