2K and Hangar 13 Expand Global Development Team with New Studio in Brighton, U.K.
Hangar 13 expands into the United Kingdom
Images via 2K2K and Hangar 13 announced on Tuesday, May 15, that they are expanding Hangar 13 to a new office in the United Kingdom. Hangar 13 is the critically acclaimed developer behind 2016’s open-world game, Mafia III, and while they dealt with recent layoffs, they are working on a currently unannounced AAA project.
Hangar 13’s newest studio expansion is located in the city of Brighton, U.K., and the studio is headed by Nick Baynes (pictured above), who spent many years at Black Rock Studios working on the over-the-top arcade racer Split Second. Baynes has been a resident of Brighton for over 17 years and, in turn, he is deeply entrenched in the game development scene in the Southeast U.K. Baynes has gone on to say that “If you’re an experienced game developer looking to join a passionate AAA studio, we want to hear from you.”
The global studio head of Hangar 13, Haden Blackman, said, “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Nick and the Brighton team into our growing Hangar 13 family.” The new Brighton studio will collaborate with the Novato, CA and Czech Republic teams on all aspects of future Hangar 13 projects. Hangar 13 will continue to scale in both the U.S. and Europe at a rate that is on par with the development of their unannounced AAA project for 2K.
