Reese Witherspoon Confirms Legally Blonde 3: “It’s True”

You might want to grab yourself a hot dog, because it looks like Legally Blonde 3 is really happening—at least, much of the creative team, including original screenwriters Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah, are on board, and now Elle Woods herself is, too.

Reese Witherspoon took to Instagram Wednesday to tease her involvement in the developing project, and she did so in the Elle Woods-iest of ways. The actress and Time’s Up advocate posted a video of herself floating along in a pool, clad in a glittery pink bikini. This is a clear reference to Elle Woods’ Harvard video essay from the first Legally Blonde, but just in case you weren’t convinced this was Witherspoon’s official endorsement of the project, check out her caption: “It’s true… #LegallyBlonde3.”

So it looks like this whole Legally Blonde 3 thing is really happening. After jaw-dropping turns in Wild and Big Little Lies, it’d be great to see Witherspoon get the chance to flex her funny bone, and fans are already speculating as to what Elle Woods’ next great adventure will be. Will she go to the White House? Will she take on a salient, Time’s Up-inspired case? Whatever Witherspoon and the Legally Blonde team have in store next, one thing is certain: We do not object!
