New Rogue One Teaser Promises Return of Grand Moff Tarkin

The newest Star Wars film is less than a month away, and the film’s marketing department really wants you to remember that. In yet another new teaser released for the film, we see Jyn Erso and crew attempting to steal the plans for the Death Star.

This teaser also gives us a glance at Grand Moff Tarkin, a villain from the original Star Wars, who has long been rumored to make an appearance in Rogue One. In the teaser, we see the villainous figure staring at the Death Star, and although we don’t see his face, the hair and outfit make his identity fairly obvious.

The actor who played Tarkin, Peter Cushing, has long been deceased, so there is some level of mystery surrounding how the character’s appearance in the new installment will be handled. It’s possible that the character will be recreated digitally for a brief appearance in the new film, although it’s unclear exactly what Tarkin’s role will be in Rogue One.

The new teaser was released to promote advance ticket sales for the film, which began on Monday night. If you didn’t already know, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theaters on Dec. 16. Until then, check out the new teaser above, and find the many others here.
