Blonde Redhead Announce First Album in 9 Years

Just in time for the their 30th anniversary, American alt-rock band Blonde Redhead (Kazu Makino and Italian twin brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace) have announced Sit Down For Dinner, their first album since 2014. The LP is set to arrive on September 29 via section1.

The richness of lead single “Snowman” lies in its simplicity; over five lush minutes, it transforms into an incantation, intentionally and excitedly rough around the edges. The song’s language creates a game, toying with grammatical boundaries and teasing repeated mentions to “a no man” as it inches toward its own titular word. Sung by Amedeo, “Snowman” is inspired by Brazilian experimental music, abundant with a noise that is gentle but insistent.

Blonde Redhead hasn’t released an album in nine years, and their newest work promises to be a labor of love. Sit Down for Dinner is inspired by Makino’s experience with Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking, and its lead single exudes the same measured gravitas as the late literary icon.
