Watch Father John Misty’s Trippy Animated Music Video for “Date Night”

In his latest music video, Father John Misty (aka Josh Tillman) dives deep into the strange and surreal world of modern dating, if that world happened to be occupied by animated monsters seeking romantic advice from dating apps and crystal balls—and really, we’ve all been there.
The animated music video for “Date Night” premiered on Adult Swim’s Toonami last night, and it’s the fourth visual off Misty’s God’s Favorite Customer, following “Mr. Tillman,” “God’s Favorite Customer” and “Please Don’t Die.”
Canadian musician Chad VanGaalen directed and animated “Date Night.” The video’s animation style is Yellow Submarine meets Hot Topic T-shirt (in the best way), with visuals of cats receiving blood transfusions from plants and psychedelic giants playing tambourine.
Misty makes a brief cameo while riding a flying piano and sipping a martini.
