Kelsey Lu Shares Music Video For Jamie xx-Produced “Foreign Car”

Cellist turned experimental pop star Kelsey Lu is on a roll—literally, that is, as she puts pedal to the metal in a new music video for her song “Foreign Car.”
The Jamie xx-produced track was a clear standout on Lu’s debut album, “Blood,” which released last month. The song’s fusion of Aphex Twin-esque industrial ambiance, slinky R&B and jump-scare cello chords turned the old hot rod sound inside out, reflecting a new era of silent electric motors and anxiety about exhaust pipes. Even the traditional link between automobiles and sex was inverted, with Lu herself in the driver’s seat, and her lover turned into an expensive piece of machinery.
Appropriately, Lu’s new music video is dripping with shirtless men, luxurious homes and, of course, a dash-cam ride in a sports car.
