Lorde Announces Melodrama‘s Vinyl Release

In terms of critical acclaim, Lorde’s Melodrama is the undisputed heavyweight champion of 2017. The album began the year as one of our most-anticipated releases, and it ends the year as the top entry on a staggering amount of best-of lists, an Album of the Year Grammy nominee and now a much-anticipated 2018 vinyl release, set to hit turntables everywhere in April.

Lorde’s sophomore album will come in both standard and deluxe versions. The musical mastermind and onion ring critic gave fans a look at the LP’s different iterations on Twitter:

She also noted that it will be a while before we see a vinyl collector’s edition of the album:

Lorde’s massive Melodrama World Tour comes Stateside not long before her album’s vinyl version does: She begins her tour’s North American leg in Milwaukee, Wis., on March 1, 2018, playing a whopping 30 shows before wrapping up in Nashville, Tenn. on April 15. Lorde will be accompanied by Run the Jewels, Mitski and Tove Stryke on what looks likely to be one of 2018’s most must-see tours. You’ll find those North American dates listed in full below.

2017 held no shortage of highlights for Lorde. Her 2013 debut single “Royals” was certified diamond by the RIAA, with more than 10 million copies sold in the U.S., making Lorde one of only four women (along with Lady Gaga, Carly Rae Jepsen and Katy Perry) with a diamond-certified song. Melodrama lead single “Green Light” also reached platinum status, in addition to landing on Paste’s list of 2017’s best songs. Just this morning, First Aid Kit released a cover of Melodrama standout “Perfect Places,” calling the track “one of our fav songs of this year.”

Melodrama’s vinyl release is set for April 6, 2018. You can preorder a copy here and read our review of the album here.
