A few years ago, Martha bought a one-way ticket to a Muslim country, flew there alone with her guitar and never looked back.
The journey that ensued left her feeling like the "bride in the wilderness" of the Old Testament. As she has learned to walk with Jesus through joy and loneliness, she has been writing songs along the way. Her first album, Pilgrim, was released as an amateur project in 2010.
This new album, Desert Bride, is a deeper and more mystic expression of her sojourn through life. With bare-all lyrics and haunting vocals, this album will leave the listener feeling appreciative of the mysteries of worship and faith.
The album was recorded as a family project on a visit back home to Ohio, involving Dad's semi-professional recording skills, Little Sister on the djembe, and a home recording studio that could only be used after the baby nieces were in bed. Martha's main goal in releasing the album is to deliver these unique songs to the world in hopes that others will be encouraged in their own journeys.
