WATCH: Cameroon Fans Celebrate Their Country’s AFCON Title

Yesterday Cameroon upset favorites Egypt to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Final 2-1. After being down 1-0 at halftime, the Lions fought back in the second half and clinched their first AFCON title in 15 years thanks to a late goal by Vincent Aboubakar.

Unsurprisingly, Cameroon fans were utterly beside themselves. The reactions of fans outside the stadium was captured on camera for posterity and it is absolutely delightful to see. The absolute joy they feel, and the gratitude for being able to see it live, is palpable.

After the game, Cameroon head coach Hugo Broos said his side’s title came in no small part to the sense of camaraderie in the squad. “I don’t have 23 players, I have 23 friends,” Broos told the BBC. “Over the weeks we went from being a squad to becoming a family. It’s unbelievable what all the guys did. It is tremendous.”

The win also booked Cameroon a place in the 2017 Confederations Cup this summer in Russia. The competition will be incredibly fierce, but if you’re a Cameroon fan who just witnessed their team accomplish such a huge upset, you’d have to think another one is doable.
