Watch New Trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's After Earth
Director M. Night Shyamalan’s quest for redemption following the debacle that was his adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender continues with the premiere of this new trailer for his science-fiction drama After Earth.
Real-life father-son Will and Jaden Smith star as a father and son who crash land on an Earth long-abandoned by humans and now overrun by dangerous new species.
Unlike the first, mostly silent trailer, this one incorporates much more of the film’s dialogue— for better or for worse. As part of the film, the Smiths appear to have adapted some strange quasi-British/South African-type accents.
The original story comes courtesy of former videogame journalist Gary Whitta who wrote 2010’s Book of Eli. The script was subsequently treated by both Shyamalan and Oscar-winning screenwriter Stephen Gaghan (Traffic, Syriana).
