This takes dedication. Although you might have already worn the grooves out on the recently reissued pressing of Mastodon’s epic Moby Dick-influenced Leviathan, a real die-hard named Sam Abbott decided to learn the whole thing from start to finish on piano. That means Abbott had to learn and arrange piano parts for a few of the most punishing metal songs in the last decade, including “Blood and Thunder,” “Iron Tusk” and “Megalodon.” If you’ve got 40 minutes, the one-take rendition of the album is definitely worth a listen.
