Walton Goggins in Talks to Play Villain in Alicia Vikander-Led Tomb Raider Reboot

Movies News Tomb Raider

Walton Goggins, always a swaggering screen presence, is in final talks to join the Tomb Raider reboot, an adaptation of the popular videogame series set to star Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft. According to Variety, Goggins would play the antagonist to Croft, and would certainly be a delightful counterpart to Vikander onscreen.

Warner Bros. recently announced that the film will be released on March 16, 2018, and will be helmed by Norwegian director Roar Uthaug. The original Tomb Raider videogame was released in 1996, while the first Paramount film adaptations were released in 2001 and 2003. Those films, which starred Angelina Jolie, earned a combined $432 million worldwide at the box office.

Goggins is also starring in HBO’s Vice Principals, which finished its first season this year and has been renewed for a second. He also starred alongside Samuel L. Jackson in The Hateful Eight, Quentin Tarantino’s latest film. He should really just be in everything.
