Slow Pulp Release New Single “Doubt”
Photo by Alexa VisciusSlow Pulp have released another single from their forthcoming sophomore LP Yard, out September 29th via ANTI-. “Doubt” is a hooky meditation on—you guessed it—self-doubt and its paralytic aftershocks. “In my process to fight against self-deprecation, I found this strange new pattern popping up where I fished for critiques from others,” frontwoman Emily Massey notes. “I wanted people close to me to validate the things I hated about myself.”
The energetic, swirling indie-pop track is anchored by Massey’s dreamy harmonies and a distorted guitar riff, as well as an infectious chorus centerpiece. “Take me in and size me up, I know you’re not always a judge,” she sings. “Am I not enough, or too much?” The band describes Yard as an exercise in internal comfort, and “Doubt” traces the outlines of that journey’s impetus.
