Charlie Faye is known for mixing her 70s-influenced songwriter sensibilities with her love of soul music. Her latest album, You Were Fine, You Weren’t Even Lonely, has a Fleetwood Mac-by-way-of-Stax sound. The majority of the album was recorded at the home studio of Jay Bellerose and Jen Condos in Los Angeles. The ace band assembled around Faye – Bellerose on drums, Condos on bass, Mike Thompson on keys, and Will Sexton and Greg Leisz on guitar – buoys the songs and lends the album a delicious cohesiveness. The album has won praise from American Songwriter, CMT Edge, The Austin Chronicle and The Bluegrass Situation, and Faye recently taped a session on NPR’s venerable Mountain Stage show. This sampler features tracks from You Were Fine, as well as from Travels With Charlie.
