"African Girl" is the first offering of the Kenyan-born, Seattle-based artist Naomi Wachira. After years of perfecting her songwriting and guitar skills, she solicited a few friends to help her record an 3 song EP to 'test the waters' on how well her music would be well received. The 3 songs are a glimpse into matters of life that Naomi has made keen observations on. In Witness, she sings of her desire for balance when it comes to life companions, being cautious of those make promises they can't keep. The title track, African Girl is a coming of age song that looks back at her heritage and the pride she carries knowing where she comes from and what she hopes to make of her life. The final song, born out of an unhealthy relationship that begun to show signs of violence, is a plea for men to Stand Up for women and avoid any expression of violence in relationships.
