Description

THE CROOKED EAST'S debut EP, “Where it’s Warm,” tells the tale of a troubled young man who follows his aspiring-actress girlfriend West, only to find himself a rising singer/songwriter. But the higher he rises, the lower he sinks into a haze of depression and substance abuse, until a panic attack on stage forces him to seek help and change his life.

THE CROOKED EAST will release the EP as singles, starting with "Release Me" on December 21st.

THE CROOKED EAST plan to release an LP of “Where it’s Warm” in 2022, recording the other half of the album that tells the complete story of this man’s healing/artistic journey.

Tips are appreciated, as they keep the music coming. Any amount helps.

Lyrics:

"Release Me"

Dry your eyes, little girl
The West is calling out your name.
No sense in denying its pull—
It’d be far worse if you stayed.

But while you’re wandering alone,
Along those cold, long roads at night.
And when your demons start chasing you down,
Just know I’ll be by your side.

But first…

Release me.
Release me.
Release me of your spell
Before you go.

All your half-written poetry
Will find its end upon the road.
How can you write about the heat,
When all you’ve ever known is cold?

But while you’re wandering alone,
Along those cold, long roads at night.
And when your demons start chasing you down,
Just know I’ll be by your side.

But first…

Release me.
Release me.
Release me of your spell
Before you go.

"Where it's Warm"

Before you walk
To the road,
Turn around,
Take my coat,
How I know
Those roads can freeze.

Searchin’ a warm place
Everybody stays,
Women and men,
Children play,
You may ask, but they won’t say.

Now my old hands
And my cold legs
Are by the fire
Where they’ll remain,
You may ask, but they won’t say.

Oh, I’ve seen them
On the road,
But they won’t say where it’s warm.

I’ve seen them
On the road,
But they won’t say where it’s warm.

Before you walk
To the road,
Turn around,
Take my coat,
You may ask, but they won’t say.

You may ask, but I won’t say…
