Make America Kittens Again With Chrome Plugin

If you’re a Google Chrome user, Christmas came early this year. Created by technology journalist, part-time developer and full-time geek Tom Royal, the Make America Kittens Again extension replaces images of Donald Trump with kittens. The developer behind the concept explains:

Because seriously, f*ck that guy. The plugin replaces Donald Trump with kittens because:

A) Trump is a disgrace.

B) Kitties are lovely, and

C) I couldn’t find a Creative Commons photo of a blowfish to use.

Update 1.1.0 – now with additional kitten-blocking targets! Use the options page to additionally block Mike Pence, Nigel Farage, Marine Le Pen, Geert Wilders, or the whole awful bunch of them.

The Make America Kittens Again plugin was actually released back in February, but went viral this month resulting in over 25,000 installs in just a few days.

Royal says he made it when Trump was “merely an annoyance; a particularly vile and shouty cartoon clown making a nuisance of himself ahead of the Republican primaries… Obviously things didn’t turn out that way, and we’re looking down the barrel of four years of horror. No Chrome extension’s going to fix that, sadly.”

We couldn’t get the MAKA plug-in to play nicely with the images on Paste – it doesn’t work on Facebook or Twitter, either. (Guess that puts the Paste tech ops team in good company.) Royal addressed his programming capabilities in the FAQs on his website stating, “The extension can only replace images that it knows contain Trump.”

So to grab some screencaps of the extension in action we went to Trumplandia, aka Breitbart. The cuddly little kittens made us feel only marginally better about headlines like Trump to MSNBC’s Brzezinski on Nuke Tweets: ‘Let It Be an Arms Race’, Trump Versus The Green Blob and Rockette Meltdowns Over Trump Gig.

Meowy Christmas.
