L.A.’s SadGirl make slow and hazy pop perfect for your summer soundtrack. Reverb-soaked new single “Breakfast For 2” feels hot and humid, yet still evokes light, sunny nostalgia. According to guitarist and singer Misha Lindes, the delightfully melancholy track is a traditional rock n’ roll “sequel” to one of the band’s first ever songs, “Breakfast Is Over.”
“It’s meant to be a bit remorseful and about realizing a mistake and being willing to risk everything for it,” Lindes explains. You can hear the band perform “Breakfast Is Over” at Daytrotter right here.
SadGirl’s “Breakfast for 2” b/w “Jack the Ripper” 7” single is out August 17 via Suicide Squeeze.
