Watch the Harrowing, Yet Inspirational Full Trailer for Patriots Day

Patriots Day is just the latest true story adapted by director Peter Berg (Deepwater Horizon, Lone Survivor). This new film, which just debuted its second trailer, follows the aftermath of the 2013 bombing of the Boston Marathon. The new trailer suggests a hopeful take on the dark material, focusing on the resilience of those involved in the manhunt for the perpetrators of the bombing.

The film’s official synopsis reads:

In the aftermath of an unspeakable attack, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders, and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard DesLauriers (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston.

Berg co-wrote the film’s script alongside Matt Cook, Joshua Zetumer and Eric Johnson, and the film’s score was written by Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The film is currently set to close the AFI Festival on Nov. 17, which is a prestigious slot previously held by Oscar darlings like The Big Short and Foxcatcher.
