The lead-up to 2019 festival season continues today (Jan. 7) with the announcement of another heavy-hitting event’s lineup: Governors Ball Music Festival, coming to New York City’s Randall’s Island Park for the ninth year running Friday, May 31, through Sunday, June 2.
This year’s headliners include The Strokes, Florence + The Machine, and Tyler, the Creator, with Lil Wayne, SZA, Nas, The 1975, Kacey Musgraves, Brockhampton, Blood Orange, Lord Huron, Beast Coast (aka Joey Bada$$ x Flatbush Zombies), The Internet, Mitski, Noname, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Cautious Clay, Parcels, SOB x RBE, Sunflower Bean, Kaytranada, U.S. Girls, Calpurnia, Soccer Mommy and Ric Wilson also numbering among the fest’s 70 scheduled acts.
Their Gov Ball set will constitute The Strokes’ first confirmed U.S. performance in three years, per Consequence. The news comes soon after the announcement of the band’s impending “global comeback,” revealed alongside confirmation that the band will play Spain’s Bilbao BBK Live festival in July. Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas will also perform with his side band The Voidz at both fests.
