Spotify Tries to Recruit President Obama to Pick Playlists Full-Time
Photos by Neilson Barnard/GettyThis week, music-streaming giant Spotify seems to be pretty set on hiring one specific new employee: President Obama. On the site’s “Careers at Spotify” page, the newly open “President of Playlists” position calls for applicants who “have at least eight years experience running a highly-regarded nation,” can write an “I just found my birth certificate” playlist, and have “good team spirit, excellent work ethic, a friendly and warm attitude, and a Nobel Peace Prize.”
Though Spotify might be a bit too ambitious in angling for Obama, it is no secret that President Obama had a great relationship with the music industry during his tenure as president. In every phase, President Obama has rested on the support of critically acclaimed artists ranging from Beyonce to Chance the Rapper. Obama’s White House, indeed, has its own Spotify account, which has published playlists encompassing Stevie Wonder, Sarah Bareilles and many more.
Whatever critics might have to say about Obama’s broader legacy, it’s clearly been a boon for Spotify. Find a couple of POTUS’ past playlists here, and read Spotify’s full job posting here.
