About the Book

You can hand over any job that you have as a parent. Shopping for your kids. Child-proofing your house. Taking care of your crying kid in the night. Teaching your teen manners. Maybe even throwing birthday parties. At first glance this seems odd - outsourcing crucial roles of parenting.

But the reality is that many of us do this with the spiritual lives of our children. We rely on somebody else to be the primary spiritual nurturers of our children. As parents, we need to be discipling our children as we go about our lives.

"Every Christian family ought to be as it were a little church." - Jonathan Edwards

How's your little church? How are you doing as you pastor your family?

I intentionally made the book short and sweet so you could read it all in one sitting. It’s also meant to be highly practical. I want you to be able to read the things talked about and have some practical ways you can start implementing it in your home. This book explores and expands on a framework written about by Reggie Joiner in Think Orange. It explores the crucial roles that a parent has as teacher, friend, counselor, and coach.

About the Author

I’m RJ and I love what I get to do. I’m a husband to my wonderful wife, Jessica, and dad to Elijah and Emaline. I love ministry and get the chance to serve as the Middle School Minister at the church my wife and I have grown up at, Faith Lutheran Church in Troy, Michigan. I’m attending seminary at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO through their Specific Ministry Pastor program.

I love to write about the things I’m passionate about. I believe that good theology, a theology centered on the Gospel, can change the world. I believe that theology is not something reserved for the academics or the dead guys, but instead is something that should be embraced in everyday life.
