About the Book
In 2013, I took my daughter on an errand to Home Depot during which she fell out of the shopping cart and landed head first on the concrete floor. Panic ensued. I was already panicked about the state of my life. I was in this weird transitional period, trying to figure out how to be a father and an artist at the same time. Writing this short story gave me an opportunity to meld those two things and lifted my spirits at a point where I badly needed a lift.
After the story placed third in Glimmer Train's New Writers contest, I felt encouraged to try to expand the tale of this little girl with an uncanny memory. Now it's a novel called The Reminders and I've included the first two chapters after the short story.
