Named after a percussion instrument built by his father, "The Stompboard Sessions" serves up a foot stompin' slice of Blues and Americana from Brian Keith Wallen. Fresh off of a 2nd place finish in the Blues Foundation's prestigious International Blues Challenge, you can hear the Memphis influence coming through Wallen on this record at times, with perhaps a dash of Muscle Shoals mixed in.
Fans of Jason Isbell's genre-combining efforts should find something to appreciate here, as should guitar-loving blues fans. There's a little something for everyone here, from intricate acoustic fingerpicking on the opening cut, to Latin Blues flair on standout track "Burn", and shredding guitar on songs like "Devil Blues" and "Tied."
