From Dave Foster, Producer: "Last year on Christmas morning, I called Carrigan Chantz and gave him a challenge to record a Christmas instrumental within three hours and have it sent to me. He didn't disappoint. This year, I gave him a little bit more time, but asked for another holiday song, and also requested the song I wanted him to record for me: Joni Mitchell's "River." He had it recorded in three hours again.
Since we re-worked the contract plan for Carrigan, which dropped the Christmas album as one of the releases for DPF Records, I have been asked by Carrigan (and fans) to release the songs he has recorded, so that is what I have done. The EP "Christmas Chantz" is now available here on NoiseTrade, and is absolutely free! Happy Holidays from Carrigan Chantz and all of us at DPF Records, Ltd!
One side note: The first track is actually three songs in one: "Away In A Manger," "Oh Holy Night," and "Silent Night" (which also features a beautiful interlude of "Still, Still, Still"). Carrigan originally recorded the piano tracks for "Away" and "Oh Holy Night" twenty years ago, and I have used those original tracks from the young man, enhanced as best as possible given the nature of the original recordings, and the degradation over time...
