Description
Robert Schumann's Waldszenen (Forest Scenes), Op. 82, is a set of nine short, charming piano pieces, each of which attempts to paint a particular scene that might happen in a forest. One of Schumann's later works, it is often overshadowed by more popular ones such as his Carnaval, Op. 9, and Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood), Op. 15. Waldszenen is actually most often known for its appearance in Oscar Wilde's famous novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. Schumann received some criticism for giving his pieces titles, but he believed that titles give performers a better idea of how the pieces are supposed to be played. Despite the fact that these are some of his less popular pieces, they are by no means anything less than masterful.Robert Schumann's Waldszenen (Forest Scenes), Op. 82, is a set of nine short, charming piano pieces, each of which attempts to paint a particular scene that might happen in a forest.
