Neyla Pekarek’s solo debut album tells the story of Rattlesnake Kate, a badass frontierwoman who fought off 120 snakes to protect her young son. The singer-songwriter and cellist (formerly of the Lumineers) blends indie, country and folk-infused sounds in the lively Rattlesnake, out January 18th, 2019. “Train,” Pekarek’s first single, is a song about taking risks and starting a new chapter. “Better Than Annie” imagines a rivalry between Kate and the notorious Annie Oakley, but turns into a timely, women-supporting-women anthem. “Miffed,” exclusively available ahead of release on Noisetrade, is a playful take on anger- in Neyla’s words, it is “a cathartic release of that emotion.”
