Stacy Jones : Love is Everywhere

The mission of every artist is to channel the effect of world around them into their creations and expressions. Stacy Jones, as a gifted and award-winning songwriter finding herself at the end of a year full dramatic events both far flung and close to home, channeled her emotional response into a collection of songs that centered around love and its many outcomes and effects. The result is her seventh album and its bold title: Love Is Everywhere, set for release July 14, 2017.

Jones and her long-time band mates, guitarist Jeff Menteer, drummer Rick J Bowen and her dad Tom Jones on bass returned to the workshop of Studio Litho in Seattle along with producer/engineer Floyd Reitsma (Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews) to record the eleven songs of new material in a live-off-the-floor setting. Jones set out to put together a more blues and roots focused album, but the result is much bigger than that as it encompasses all her multi-instrumental talents. Jones plays harmonica, acoustic and electric guitars, piano and Hammond B3 along with lead vocals and penned ten of the new songs.

Album opener, ‘Mojo Potion #61/49,’ and its second line beat is designed as a mirror-image tale of Jones’ own experiences as a blues singer, who went down to the crossroads. The stirring southern rock ballad ‘Wait For Heaven’ was in response to the tragic loss of a friend in a house fire, and the swinging ‘Can’t Find Love’ grew out of the ‘These Boots Are Made for Walkin’’ inspired bass line into anthem of self-empowerment. Jones invited her new-found mentor, harmonica master Lee Oskar, to make a special guest appearance by joining her and Menteer trading licks on the sizzling instrumental ‘Stomp Jump Boogie.’ The brooding torch blues ‘Can’t You Be Mine’ finds her wearing her heart on her sleeve, while the joyous soul rock revival ‘I Fell In Love’ bursts with energy. Old-time jump blues ‘One Stoplight’ is sure to be a hit with the radio and the dancefloor; the two country blues jaunts, ‘Can’t Get Over You’ and ‘Tough Girls Never Cry,’ reveal the influences of Dylan, Cash, and Cale in Jones’ songwriting.

The title track was written in the aftermath of the night club mass shooting in Orlando, and was the challenging final track recorded for the album: a tribute to the fallen and a hard-won declaration of hope, now standing proud for the effort. The album closes with a rollin’ and tumblin’ two-beat barn burner ‘I’ll Be On My Way,’ leaving no doubt Stacy Jones knows how to deliver the blues in her own way, by letting love be her guiding force.

Stacy Jones is the 2016 Washington BB Song Writer of the Year Award Winner for her 2016 BB Award winning album “Whiskey, Wine and Water,” as well as the 2015 IMEA (International Music and Entertainment Association) award winner for Best Blues Song ‘Can't Do Nothin' Right’ off the same album. She is continually nominated for "Best of the Blues" awards in songwriting, performance, harmonica, guitar and winning vocalist of the year in 2010 and 2014.

Jones has performed internationally through Europe, and at venues and festivals, including the Chicago Blues Festival and SXSW, across the United States. She has shared stages with Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musselwhite, Lee Oskar, and many other legends. Her music has been described as "a whiskey & water baptism that lace blues and rock edges." With her feet firmly planted in roots-based music, Stacy Jones pays homage to the blues but experiments by mixing in some mild-Americana and subtle country licks. Dynamic vocals fueled by powerful lyrics - the rolling thunder blues of Howlin’ Wolf mixed with the honesty of Lucinda Williams.
