Two years after recorded a critically acclaimed Americana album--The Benedictions Play Devil Music--and spending 2011 honing their live show, Providence-based The Benedictions recorded their second record--American Wasteland--in early 2012. Not wanting to be pigeon-holed as a roots band, they traded their acoustic guitars and mandolins in favor of electric guitars and distortion pedals. American Wasteland was unleashed to the public in June. The Benedictions have been influenced by The Band, Neil Young, Blue Oyster Cult, AC/DC, Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones, and all the people that came before them seeking truth, freedom, and a good time through rock n roll music.
