Kristen Bell Attacks Gender Pay Gap in Fake Ad
Images via The Huffington Post/YouTubeKristen Bell doesn’t understand why employers are shipping jobs overseas. In a new faux-advertisement called “Pinksourcing,” the actress suggests that these businesses should instead hire women. As she puts it, “Why outsource all your production to faraway countries like India, China and Narnia when we have the cheapest and best workforce right here in the gold old U. S. Of A.: women.”
The short continues to make pointed criticisms of inequalities in the workplace as Bell walks past rows and rows of female employees working at desks and cubicles. She points out that women only make 77 cents on the dollar, so they’re a bargain for employers. What makes the deal even better is that they never have to be promoted!
“Pinksourcing” is the first installment of a new comedy web series from The Huffington Post called Celebs Have Issues. The series will produce 10 weekly episodes, each covering a different issue such as equal pay, transgender rights or mental health.
This first installment is particularly timely, considering how much conversation there has been surrounding equal pay in Hollywood in recent years. Everyone from Jennifer Lawrence to Patricia Arquette and Bradley Cooper have weighed in on the issue, and rightly so. After all, women are half of all people. Check out “Pinksourcing” above.
