Mission: Impossible – Fallout‘s Rebecca Ferguson to Star in Doctor Sleep and New Men in Black
Photos by Pascal Le Segretain/Getty, Andreas Rentz/GettyEven while she’s still riding the wave of success for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Rebecca Ferguson is making moves. The Swedish actress has committed to appear in the forthcoming Men in Black spinoff, as well as The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep.
As Deadline reports, Ferguson will star opposite Ewan McGregor in Doctor Sleep, the most recent addition to the barrage of Stephen King-inspired adaptations in the works. McGregor will play adult Danny Torrance, struggling to outrun his father’s (literal) demons, with Ferguson cast as antagonist Rose the Hat, the leader of a cult of quasi-immortalists who is lovingly referred to as “the Queen Bitch of Castle Hell” in the book. Westworld actor Zahn McClarnon is in talks to play Rose the Hat’s right-hand man, Crow Daddy. The film is being co-written and helmed by Gerald’s Game director and Stephen King veteran Mike Flanagan.
Ferguson will also appear alongside Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson and Kumail Nanjiani in the latest installment of the Men in Black franchise. While neither Tommy Lee Jones or Will Smith are set to return, Emma Thompson will reprise her role as Agent O. F. Gary Gray will direct the new film, with Steven Spielberg onboard to executive produce. No word yet on the specifics of Ferguson’s “plum” role, though the movie isn’t due out until next summer.
