Listen to Run the Jewels’ Poignant Single “2100,” Featuring Boots

Music News Run The Jewels

Run the Jewels are no strangers to mixing their music with social and political commentary, as they recently did in their collaboration with DJ Shadow. The hip-hop dynamic duo is back with another single from their forthcoming album Run the Jewels 3, this time offering hope and solace in the midst of election-related animosity and confusion.

“’2100’ was written several months ago in reference to something bigger than the election,” El-P notes in a tweet, but the single is overwhelmingly fitting during a time in which political tensions are sky-high. “How long before the hate that we hold lead us to another Holocaust,” Killer Mike asks at the beginning of the thunderous track. “Are we so deep in it that we can’t end it?”

The single features Boots, who also appeared on “Early,” from Run the Jewels 2, a song that tackled police corruption and brutality in 2014. Listen to “2100” below, and further down, read Run the Jewel’s Facebook note to fans.
