TOKiMONSTA Announces Sixth Album Oasis Nocturno, Shares EarthGang Collab “Fried for the Night”

Legendary L.A. producer TOKiMONSTA announced her sixth full-length LP, Oasis Nocturno, Tuesday afternoon. To accompany the announcement, she shared a psychedelic music video for her new single with EarthGang, “Fried for the Night.”

TOKiMONSTA, born Jennifer Lee, refers to the album as a direct sequel to 2017’s Lune Rouge, marking her second album since her recovery from moyamoya disease, which left the producer temporarily unable to speak, read or write, let alone compose music. Lune Rouge scored TOKiMONSTA a Best Dance/Electronic Album nomination at the 2019 Grammys, and Lee later appeared on the music-focused season finale of Vox’s Netflix series Explained (along with pop icon Carly Rae Jepsen) to talk about her triumph over moyamoya, as well as relearning how to hear and make music during the production of Lune Rouge.

Of the new track, TOKiMONSTA states, ”[‘Fried for the Night’] is dedicated to those psychedelic moments where our reality opens up a new point of view.” The video mirrors this perfectly, being (literally) covered in a purple haze as the producer and EarthGang duo navigate a trippy house party. The video is as stylish as it is technicolor, with several expertly done visual effects. The song contrasts with her December single “Love That Never,” which was a beat-driven lo-fi track, and incorporates major trap influences. The two singles we have indicate a major evolution for the producer, marking Oasis Nocturno as a diverse electronic release to watch.

TOKiMONSTA will be performing at Coachella in April, then heading out on a 16-date tour titled The Oasis Nocturno Experience. Preorders for tickets go on sale Jan. 24 via her website. Check out the video for “Fried for the Night” as well as her tour dates below.
