Legendary L.A. producer TOKiMONSTA announced her sixth full-length LP, Oasis Nocturno, Tuesday afternoon. To accompany the announcement, she shared a psychedelic music video for her new single with EarthGang, “Fried for the Night.”
TOKiMONSTA, born Jennifer Lee, refers to the album as a direct sequel to 2017’s Lune Rouge, marking her second album since her recovery from moyamoya disease, which left the producer temporarily unable to speak, read or write, let alone compose music. Lune Rouge scored TOKiMONSTA a Best Dance/Electronic Album nomination at the 2019 Grammys, and Lee later appeared on the music-focused season finale of Vox’s Netflix series Explained (along with pop icon Carly Rae Jepsen) to talk about her triumph over moyamoya, as well as relearning how to hear and make music during the production of Lune Rouge.
I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of the season finale of “Explained”. It’s a truly amazing episode about music and our brains. Big thnx @voxdotcom for including me . Check it out now on @netflixpic.twitter.com/ZsrOHQLtCs
