About the Book

"Another Chance" is the first book in the Trilogy: "Lost Between The Continents"

This book is a fictional journey inspired by my grandfather, Ernest Woodward. At age seventeen he boarded a freighter in England and worked as a cook’s helper to gain his independence from a well to do childhood that turned sour after his mother died. His boat ride to America in 1906, gave me the framework to tell this story.
His journey takes him down the Ohio River delivering supplies on a riverboat, where he meets the young lady who will be the mother of his nine children.
I have built the characters around intervals in his life passed down by my family. His nine children play such a supporting role led by the oldest son John, who becomes a minister. John was my father who gave me the insight into Ernest’s character that bonded the nine brothers and sisters. They each had stories about his love for family and how his expectations of them was on an individual basis. Aunts and uncles alike would tell of his magic hand. It was his right hand. Whenever one of them got sick he would place his hand over the pain and the sickness would go into his hand. I, Joseph, cannot do that..but it worked for them. His wife Frances was musical and they all played something; piano, guitar, or harmonica.
The occasional anecdotes from the family’s re-counting of his life, appear throughout the Book.

I hope you like the story. It’s from the heart.
Joseph

About the Author

“I’m a storyteller.
My passion is to entertain you with thought-provoking and enriching stories that make you feel like they’re your own. Each character is portrayed as someone you may know, someone whose choices and paths you can identify with on a personal level. Most of my stories are in the genre of Biographical Fiction and inspired by my life and those who have shaped it.”

Joseph Woodward comes to you with a diverse background in marketing, music, and public relations. He was raised in central Ohio and attended Ohio State University. Writing short stories and poetry became a habit to relax with and stay fresh to be creative for his day job. His background in writing copy for a variety of products and services, gave him the ability to write “rich”…say a lot with fewer words. This style of expression lends to his entertaining short stories. They are perfect for the person on-the-go that doesn’t have the focus to follow a novel for three weeks, but still likes to read. His general physician commented that he can read one of Woodward’s stories on the train and reflect on it thru-out the day.

Among his interests and hobbies are his love for children, playing piano, and gardening. He has given piano lessons to his grandchildren and neighbor’s children. His gardening themes create a sense of getting away to enjoy nature. Woodward lives in central Florida with his wife Rebecca. They enjoy spending time with their four children and six grandchildren.
