Originally published in 2003, "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling," is a peaceful album of traditional hymn improvisation. In it, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Ben Ko, combines simplicity with taste, forming a suitable backdrop for devotional times and sing-along moments in the home and on the road. Although the hymns are familiar, there are no words in these instrumental tracks, and, listeners are coaxed to provide the words from their own hearts and memories.
Thanks to my dad for getting me to record with simple gear before I even knew any of the science and skills behind recording. We used two dynamic mics and an old tape deck feeding directly into our desktop computer for this album, and yet, so many have expressed what God has done through this album that I sometimes wonder why I even got into the recording industry at all in later years!
