While a Freshman at Appalachian State University Corey picked up a Guitar. 6 years and over 400 shows later he has released 3 self produced albums and performed in over half of the continental US. Growing up listening to everything from bluegrass to rock and roll you can find a little bit of everthing is his style. In a recent interview Corey Stated "I was really into writing, I was determined to be a screen writer and direct movies." But he claims that all changed while at a Corey Smith Concert as a freshman at ASU. "I watched the show that night and I knew then I didn't want to write movies anymore, I wanted to write songs." He says the next weekend he got a guitar and began learning. "I think my approach was different than most, because I didn't want to learn to play other peoples music, I just wanted to learn how to play so I could write my own. The very first songs i ever wrote were only two chords, because thats the only two I could play." He began playing open mics and then eventually met guitarist Cory Luetjen and drummer Eric Wise at a open jam in his hometown of Asheboro NC. In early 2011 they would form the Corey Hunt Band. Along with different Bass players here and there, they began playing shows all throughout North Carolina. "CHB" has shared the stage with many popular artist including, Jared Neiman, Justin Moore, Parmalee, Frank Foster, Randy Rogers Band, Maggie Rose as well as others. In the summer of 2013 the band added their current Bass player and ASU alumni Will Petty.
