The San Francisco band, Crashing Hotels, comprised of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ao Anderson and drummer Tony Bednar is best described as a Dark Electric Dance Rock duo. In the middle of writing songs for their EP, the DEA, US Marshalls and SFPD kicked the door in on the building that housed their studio. The band’s computer, containing years of material was seized but luckily, none of their instruments were, so they decided to record out of Anderson’s bedroom to complete the project. The following month, Ao was facing 3 felony charges that would take an entire year of legal battles to eventually have dropped. The experience shook Anderson, but also sharpened his focus and breathed a sense of urgency into the two musicians who have known each other since 2006. The duo quit their jobs and in early January, 2014, presented their debut collection ‘Advisory Act,’ a 7 song EP consisting of a sound all their own. With Ao being somewhat of a musical recluse and having stayed true to a "no influence" experiment he started at the age of 12, their style naturally ranges from heavy bass driven, up-tempo dance tracks to demonic, dark and sexy ballads. Within a year, the duo has been featured in projects ranging from Nike ads with tattoo legend, Mr.Cartoon to a European Levis commercial.
