"Sistersong 2018" is the 20th Anniversary version of Rachael Sage's beloved 1998 feminist anthem and appears on her latest album, Myopia. Rachael is honored to have the proceeds from "Sistersong 2018" benefit national charity Girls Inc, whose mission is to help young women and girls overcome serious barrier to grow up strong, smart & bold. The newly re-imagined "Sistersong 2018" mirrors the #MeToo and Women's March movements and is an empowering ode to sisterhood featuring guest female artists Nalani & Sarina and Gabrielle Louise. The song was originally recorded in 1998 as a tribute to fellow artist and businesswoman Ani DiFranco, whose independent spirit and commitment to running her own pioneering indie record label Righteous Babe was among the catalysts for Sage to found her own label, MPress Records.
"I have found that my supportive friendships with women in adulthood have been a saving grace. The ability to share our collective experiences and prop each other up – rather than to compete negatively or criticize one another as a cultural norm – is something for which I've grown increasingly grateful, and I think that applies especially to artists and musicians who have unique opportunities to amplify that kind of positivity far and wide." - Rachael Sage
