Zoe. A Greek word to “life”. Life in the absolute sense, life as God has it, as we received it. In Brazil, it’s the imperative form of a slang, meaning “play”, “joke”, “make fun”.
And that’s what Zoe does - celebrate the gift of life through notes, noise, and silence, and make sure they (and the audience) have plenty of fun while doing it.
A mix of the old school ideals of rock’n’roll, a love for the jazz approach to improvisation, and spiced up with Brazilian rhythms and harmony, the music of this power trio defies definition.
Formed by Paulo Grua on guitar, bassist Abraao Souza and Diego Marins on drums and percussion, the music of this band is a mix of their diverse influences, ranging from Bossa Nova to Post-rock.
Their first album, recorded live at the studio, it’s deep, sometimes intricate, but not too intelectual as one might expect from a Fusion album- it’s rather emotive, atmospheric and melodic, wich approximates the band to the Post-rock genre.
