The 5 Newest iPhone 7 Rumors You Need to Know About

Rumors for the new iPhone have been hitting a fever pitch, as they usually do when we get this close to a new iPhone release. However, they haven’t all been positive. Most reports are indicating that this next release will be a smaller, more iterative update, as opposed to a major overhaul.

It’s looking pretty likely that the iPhone 7 will be announced in just a few weeks. Bloomberg recently reported; that Apple will launch the device at an event on September 7, with a suggestion that the release date will be September 16.
With news becoming more certain, here’s a look at 5 of the biggest rumors for the iPhone 7.

1. Big changes are coming for the iPhone’s EarPods

Plenty has been said about the iPhone 7 removing the headphone jack in favor of a Lightning port or Bluetooth based solution for your listening needs. MobileFun posted a video; that looks likely to be the first demonstration of what to expect from this significant change.

The video shows EarPods attached through the Lightning port of the iPhone, but otherwise working pretty much like any other earphone. The in-line controls are positioned lower down than before, but that’s about it for any huge aesthetic changes. Presumably, options will be available for charging your iPhone at the same time as listening to music.
An earlier rumor suggests that wireless AirPods are also fairly likely;. We think this won’t be bundled in with the iPhone 7, though. It’s much more likely that this will be a separate accessory to purchase for those who like to have all Apple products, rather than a third-party wireless listening solution.

2. A dual camera makes all the difference

Why have one lens when you can have two? That’s looking pretty likely for the iPhone 7 Plus at least, if not the regular iPhone 7.

It’s a form of technology previously embraced by Android phones like the LG G5 and the Huawei P9, but it’d be a welcome addition to the iPhone fold. The technology works by merging separate images shot with each sensor, theoretically forming brighter and more detailed photos. A dual-lens solution means improved exposure latitude, potentially faster autofocus, and maybe even the option of some cool uses within augmented and 3D capturing fields.

Whether it’ll improve digital zooming quality which has always been an issue for iPhones compared to many Android phones, however, we’ll have to see.

3. A new kind of home button

Early rumors suggested that the iPhone 7 might do away entirely with the home button, resorting to a purely touch screen based interface. This doesn’t look likely now, but there’s still room for the home button to change drastically. Bloomberg recently reported that the button will now be touch-capacitive;.

What does that mean exactly? Well, users won’t have to press into it. Instead, it’ll be sensitive to touch, working kind of like the MacBook’s trackpad offering a vibrating haptic sensation to provide feedback. Right now, that might just sound like a fun novelty, but it’ll be interesting to see just how effectively the technology can be utilized. It presumably marks the start of the home button being more than just a way to unlock the device.

4. Say goodbye to 16GB

Ever since the original iPhone was launched in 2007, there’s been a 16GB storage option. Is that time over, though? With iOS and photos taking up more space, it’s all but useless to have such limited storage space.

Current rumors; suggest that the iPhone 7 will start at 32GB (black1). Supply chain sources in China claim that there might even be options for up to 256GB, proving ideal for power users. Expect a hefty price tag to be attached to that, but it’ll be great for those who want to snap many photos or simply store all their favorite videos on their device.

5. A change of color

Early rumors suggested the possibility of a ‘deep blue’ color for the iPhone 7;, but that’s looking unlikely now. Instead, Space Black, a color previously used for the Apple Watch, should be available to fulfil your visual needs.

The color will be a darker option than the current Space Grey, being ‘close to black’ but not quite there. It’s not as huge a change as the introduction of Rose Gold was, but it should appeal to those wanting a more stylish looking iPhone.
