Watch the Red-Band Trailer for Broken Lizard’s Super Troopers 2

The cult comedy Super Troopers is getting a second life in the form of comedy troupe Broken Lizard’s sequel, Super Troopers 2. The Vermont Highway Patrolmen are back, including Mac (Steve Lemme), Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar), Foster (Paul Soter) and Farva (Kevin Heffernan), along with Rob Lowe as Quebec mayor Guy Le Franc. The film came to fruition after a highly successful crowdfunding campaign that made $4.4 million in just 30 days, earning Broken Lizard the title for the second most-successful crowdfunding campaign for a movie ever (behind only Veronica Mars).

The official trailer was released Thursday, Jan. 18 at 4:20 p.m. EST, naturally—this comes a few months before the movie’s release on April 20. The trailer shows fans the storyline of the new film, following a border dispute between the U.S. and Canada where the Super Troopers are tasked with patrolling the disputed area. Here, we can see some of the hilarious hijinks the troopers get into, including Farva shooting and killing a bald eagle, starting a riot over the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance and being trapped in a porta-john with a live bear (a stunt made possible through the film’s generous crowdfunding contributors). In regards to the massive monetary support of its audience, Chandrasekhar (director for the film) tweeted, “I hate to be corny, but I want to say thanks to everyone who helped us fund this movie. It was very kind.”

Broken Lizard is giving its audience exactly what they want. With the patience and support of their longtime fans, it seems that Super Troopers 2 is set to be as much of a comedic gem as its predecessor.

Again, Super Troopers 2 hits theaters on April 20—stoners everywhere, rejoice. Watch the official trailer above and revisit the flick’s first teaser here.
