Red-Band Trailer For The Shape of Water Gives Us Our First Good Look at the Creature

The red-band trailer for The Shape of Water is here, and it’s a doozy. Guillermo Del Toro’s forthcoming romantic creature feature already had many hearts aflutter in advance of its release, but this trailer raises the stakes. The film, which was already a unique mix of genres, seems to add “heist movie” to that list here, as the trailer introduces us to Sally Hawkins’ partners in crime: Richard Jenkins and Octavia Spencer.

It also gives us more of Michael Shannon doing what he does best: playing a character who is angry and mean and maybe also crazy. And then, finally, it gives us a glimpse of the creature himself, a full view of the face of “the asset.” And it looks angry.
