Exclusive: David Bazan Doc Strange Negotiations Digital Release Date, Poster Art Revealed

Brandon Vedder’s David Bazan documentary, Strange Negotiations, follows the Pedro the Lion frontman across the nation as he grapples with life as a solo performer, the loss of his Christian faith and the 2016 presidential election. The film, which premiered at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival this spring, has so far only been available for viewing at festivals around the country and the globe, limited theatrical premieres and a string of special preview screenings, some at house shows hosted by fans.

If you haven’t been one of the lucky few to catch the film, its distributor Aspiration Entertainment has announced today (Sept. 23) that they will release Strange Negotiations for digital purchase and video on demand on Tuesday, Nov. 19. In a statement, Vedder expressed his hope that the film will strike a chord not only with Bazan’s fans, but also with Americans at large in the age of Trump:

A good deal of David’s music and fan interactions center around creating meaningful conversations that interrogate faith systems and their social and political influence … His journey represents the journey of so many who seek something beyond the veneer of American Christianity, of knee-jerk evangelical political responses, of trite and temporal answers to deep and lingering issues. I believe the film will find an audience eager for that conversation.

Aspiration has also released the stained glass-inspired poster art for the film. Check it out below, along with Bazan’s 2016 Daytrotter session and a list of Strange Negotiations’s upcoming festival and theatrical dates.
