Grimes Ends Performance Mid-Song After “Really Disturbing” Incident

On Wednesday night, Grimes ended her second performance at Barclays Center abruptly during her song “World Princess II.” She was opening for Florence + The Machine. Before singing “World Princess II,” the artist told the audience, “We just had a really disturbing thing happen to us today, so sorry if my voice is shaking. It’s been kind of a fucked day. There’s a lot of fucked things going on in the news. I apologize if I’m having a lot of trouble keeping it together.”

After singing two-thirds of the song, Grimes walked off the stage and her set ended without explanation, according to Brooklyn Vegan. Last night, Grimes tweeted about walking off the stage, promising that she would “explain what happened at Barclays once I can safely and legally do so” and telling fans not to listen to fan accounts. She also reassured a fan that no other shows would be canceled.
