Sinead O’Connor Found Safe After Second Police Search This Year

Irish singer/songwriter and sensationalist Sinead O’Connor has been found safe after a Chicago police search for her, the second since May. The Chicago police department received a call from Dublin police saying the singer was planning to harm herself.

Police scanner audio reveals that O’Connor called her family in Ireland, saying that she was on a bridge in Chicago and planning to jump. After the family contacted authorities, Chicago police pursued O’Connor. Later that evening, O’Connor took to Facebook to air her grievances about the recent Brexit vote, ending her post by say she is “far too fucking happy for that!”

O’Connor has a long-standing history with mental illness, including post-traumatic stress disorder and suicidal tendencies. Paste’s coverage of O’ Connor’s last incident with police disclosed that a police search was sent out for the singer on May 15 after she did not return from an early-morning bike ride, but she was found safe in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette, Ill. The singer has publicly threatened to take her life before via Facebook.

The singer has often been the subject of tabloid stories throughout her career, most notable with her performance on Saturday Night Live in 1992 that concluded with her ripping a picture of Pope John Paul II on live broadcast.
